A BELOVED TRADITION: 31 Years of Handel’s Messiah with West Jordan Symphony

This December, West Jordan Symphony proudly presented its 31st annual Handel’s Messiah Community Sing-Along, continuing a cherished holiday tradition that has united singers, audiences, and music lovers for more than three decades.

Held at the beautiful Viridian Event Center, this year’s performance welcomed a wide and diverse audience, including many attendees traveling from outside West Jordan to take part in this unique community experience. One guest shared that they have been attending the sing-along for nearly 30 years, noting that “it gets better and better every year.” That sentiment resonated throughout the evening as voices joined together in celebration of one of the most enduring works in the choral repertoire.

West Jordan Symphony is deeply grateful for its continued partnership with the City of West Jordan, whose support allows access to exceptional venues like the Viridian Event Center. This partnership enables the Symphony and other organizations within the Cultural Arts Society of West Jordan to present high-quality, accessible performances that enrich the community and draw new audiences into West Jordan.

Featured Soloists

This year’s Messiah Community Sing-Along was elevated by an exceptional group of featured soloists whose artistry brought depth, clarity, and expressive power to the performance. The talent level of this year’s auditioned soloists was truly remarkable, and we are deeply grateful to each of these artists for generously volunteering their time to rehearse and perform with West Jordan Symphony.

Looking Ahead

As this beloved tradition continues to grow, West Jordan Symphony is exploring the possibility of forming a community chorus for next year’s Messiah Community Sing-Along. This ensemble would rehearse six to seven times in the fall, followed by a dress rehearsal with West Jordan Symphony.

Community feedback is essential as we evaluate feasibility, scheduling, and ensemble needs. Those interested in participating are invited to complete a brief interest form:

If there is sufficient interest, this initiative would create a meaningful new opportunity for singers to participate more deeply in this treasured annual performance.

Support the Symphony

If you enjoyed this year’s Messiah Community Sing-Along and would like to help sustain free concerts, community traditions, and future programs, donations are gratefully accepted.

Your generosity directly supports accessible performances, educational opportunities, and meaningful arts experiences for our community.

A Note on Upcoming Performances

West Jordan Symphony recently held Solo and Ensemble Auditions in preparation for the Solo and Ensemble Showcase taking place in late February at the new Canyon View Credit Union Community & Arts Center. The talent represented spans a wide range of musical styles and promises an engaging evening that highlights the exceptional musicianship found throughout our region.

Thank you to everyone who attended, sang, volunteered, or supported this year’s performance. We look forward to continuing this tradition and to the possibility of singing together again next season.
