Saturday night brought an uplifting start to the season as West Jordan Jazz Band presented their fall concert. The atmosphere was bright and welcoming, and the music quickly set a confident and engaging tone. From the opening piece to the final chord, the ensemble played with a sense of connection that made the evening feel both lively and inviting.
Improvised lines traveled easily across the group as each musician added their own voice to the sound. Under the guidance of Brian Blodgett in his debut as director, the concert moved with a natural flow that kept the audience engaged. His leadership added clarity, charm, and an easy rapport with both the musicians and the crowd.

A memorable highlight of the night came when vocalist Diana Larsen performed Someone to Watch Over Me. Her warm tone and thoughtful phrasing brought a gentle focus to the room and created one of the most meaningful moments of the evening.
This concert also marked the jazz band’s first performance in the new Canyon View Credit Union Community and Arts Center. The hall’s acoustics supported the group beautifully. Brass sections carried with richness, bass lines felt full and steady, drums shaped the rhythm of the night, and the piano added depth that rounded out the ensemble’s sound.
With a strong season opener now behind them, members of the West Jordan Jazz Band looks forward to their upcoming performances on December 6, February 13, their Art in the Park appearance on May 2, and a season finale on May 29.
