Event Description

About the Event

The Cycle of Life Plein Air Festival brings artists, families, nature lovers, and the community together for a free day of creativity at Conservation Garden Park in West Jordan on Saturday, September 26, 2026. Artists of all ages and experience levels are invited to create outdoors throughout the garden, while visitors can watch artwork take shape, meet artists, explore the park, participate in activities, and help select the People's Choice Award.

Create With Us

Whether you've been creating outdoors for years or this will be your first plein air experience, you're welcome to participate.

Artists may work in drawing, watercolor, oil, acrylic, mixed media, sculpture, or another observational medium. Find a place in the garden that inspires you and spend the day creating an original work based on what you see around you.

Artist registration is free and remains open through the day of the festival. Pre-registration is encouraged and helps us prepare for your arrival, but day-of registration is welcome.

Artists may also display up to three existing pieces of artwork and bring business cards or information about their work to share with visitors.

Register to participate at www.wjarts.org/plein-air.

Come Spend the Day in the Garden

You don't have to be participating as an artist to enjoy the festival. Admission is free, and everyone is invited to come experience the day.

Bring your family or a friend, pack a lunch, and spend some time in the garden. Walk the paths and see artists working throughout Conservation Garden Park, then return later to see how their artwork has developed.

Throughout the festival, visitors can:

  • Watch artists create original artwork throughout the garden

  • Meet participating artists and learn about their work and creative process

  • Create something of your own with hands-on kids' art activities

  • Explore the garden with Scavenger Hunt Bingo

  • Cast a vote for the People's Choice Award

  • Discover activities and information from conservation and community partners

  • Explore the plants, pollinators, wildlife, water-wise landscapes, and other features of Conservation Garden Park

  • Gather for the Artist Showcase and Awards at the end of the day

You Help Choose the People's Choice Award

Visitors aren't just there to watch. You'll have a chance to help recognize one of the day's artists!

Explore the artwork created during the festival, choose a favorite, and use your voting token to cast your vote for the People's Choice Award.

Kids Can Create, Too

Young visitors can stop by the kids' art area for hands-on activities inspired by art and the natural world around them.

Families can also pick up a Scavenger Hunt Bingo card and explore the garden together, looking for plants, wildlife, artwork, and other discoveries along the way.

Celebrating Art & Conservation

The Cycle of Life theme encourages artists and visitors to look more closely at the natural world and the connections within it.

Throughout the day, you'll have opportunities to discover more about conservation, water stewardship, plants, pollinators, wildlife, and our local environment through the garden itself and participating community partners.
