Event Description

Exhibit #1: Russell Huiskamp

ree

Russell Huiskamp (b. 1987) is a multidisciplinary artist and composer. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, he studied at New York University, where he was awarded the Hannah Van Vollenhollen Memorial Prize in Music. He then continued his education and received a Master of Music from New York University, where he was awarded the Carole Bayer Sager Scholarship for Songwriting. He has written multiple scores for films, documentaries and theater productions; he also sings, produces and releases music

under artist name Amusium.

As a painter, he draws inspiration from both his background as a musician and his lifelong love of video games and animation. In his pieces, he aims to translate a primarily digital immersive experience into an analog one, distilling and reducing an aesthetic to its elements and ultimately re-expanding it to canvas, rife with references and hallmarks of the original medium.

He currently lives in Salt Lake City, Utah with his husband and two daughters, Penelope and Jean.

Exhibit #2: Russell Huiskamp

Geraldine Hansen Lugo, inspired by a rich tapestry of creative endeavors, continues her passion for painting as she approached her 79th birthday. Living in Riverton, Utah, with her husband Joe, with who she has celebrated 60 years of marriage, and close to her five grown children, and many grandchildren, Geraldine faces challenges with a tremor that affects her ability to paint as before. Despite these obstacles, she remains committed to her art, adapting and learning new ways to create.

Her journey is a testament to her resilience and enduring love for painting. Geraldine is grateful for those who appreciate and find joy in her work, which can be viewed on Instagram at @paintsbygeraldine. Her vibrant and heartfelt paintings are displayed at West Jordan City Hall, where her passion and dedication continue to inspire all who view them.
