Miracle on 34th Street (2019)

Sugar Factory Playhouse proudly presents “Miracle on 34th Street,” adapted by Mountain Community Theater from the novel by Valentine Davies, based upon the Twentieth Century Fox motion picture “Miracle on 34th Street,” and directed by Pat Oliver.

By chance, Kris Kringle, an old man in a retirement home, gets a job working as Santa for Macy’s department store. Kris unleashes waves of goodwill with Macy’s customers and the commercial world of New York City by referring parents to other stores to find exactly the toy their child has asked for. Along the way, he befriends a precocious young girl, Susan, who doesn’t believe in Santa Claus, as well as the girl’s workaholic mother, Doris. Seen as deluded and dangerous by a Macy’s vocational counselor who plots to have Kris committed to a psychiatric hospital, Kris ends up in a court competency hearing. Susan, Doris, and the rest of the world must wait anxiously to see if Kris and their lawyer friend, Fred, can somehow prove that there is indeed a Santa Claus.

Performances will be December 5, 6, 7, 9, 12, 13, 14, 16 at 7:30 p.m. with 2:00 matinees December 7 and December 14 at the Midvale Performing Arts Center (695 W. Center Street).
